We thought each of these trails showed the best that Shenandoah National Park had to offer and we loved them. I would hike them all again on my next visit to this fantastic park.

The trail takes you on forested mountain descents along mountainside streams, through flat farmland and pastures, over rivers, and across numerous trestles (bridges). Children especially enjoy the trails at Grayson Highlands, because some of the best trails are not only super short but all of them provide something fun along the trail like fun rock scrambling and typically lead to an incredible high elevation view or water feature. Here’s a description of the hikes we took on our most recent trip. All of these trailheads are within a 5 minute drive of each other.

A Simply Awesome Day In Shenandoah National Park With Kids
Spectacular Vistas, Waterfalls, And Several Easy And Fun Hikes- Shenandoah Is A Fantastic National Park That’s Easily Accessible. You can find so many gorgeous vistas on Skyline Drive that I felt like I stopped the car every 5 minutes for yet another stunning view. We had a wonderful time on our 24 hours in Shenandoah and I will make it a point to stop if I can every time I drive up I81 from now on.
