Don Murphy retired as a Scout Master in 1978, but Remained Active in the Pinewood Derby
Although Don Murphy, creator of Pinewood Derby, retired as Cubmaster in 1978, he remained involved in many derbies. He was an honored guest at many anniversary events and lived to see the 50th anniversary of the Pinewood Derby in 2003. Mr. Murphy was very happy to have known that his creation led to joyful memories for millions of children.
