Sachin Dev Barman (1906-1975), commonly known as S.D. Barman was a Bengali music composer. He is regarded as the most famous and influential music director of early Indian Film industry in Bollywood and Bengal. He brought east Indian rich musical heritage and folklore music influence into modern Indian films. Later his son R.D Barman also became a legendary music composer.
