Be sure to look at the preview!A bit of history: I am an English teacher, and in the fall of 2011, I taught a creative writing course to a group of students who were at risk of failing biology. They had biology during one block and came to me two periods later. Ive always loved biology, and when my principal asked me to design my course around that content, I was all for it. I'm a big proponent of writing across all content areas, and this was my chance to put my money where my mouth was.I prepared the students for lessons to come and reinforced what they had already learned with their teacher, a competent and creative woman who enjoyed the collaborative process. At the end of the semester, every student passed the state end-of-course test. These ten strategies helped our students connect with the content.
