7.9K views · 1.4K reactions | Whenever I want to polish up on my corkscrews, I always go back to the fundamentals of the ankle lock. The marriage between the shin/calf and the placement of my feet is so important. It helps with my balance and keeping me centered during a spin. Initially they were a pain because I could barely hold the actual lock. Well how could I expect the rotations I wanted, from a corkscrew, if I struggled holding the position? Over time where my weight is placed has become more comfortable. My front and back feet are both on their outside front edges. I let that lock take place accompanied with a tight core/engaged upper body and there’s a sweet spot where I spin on my axis. There are many ways to condition your corkscrews. This is one of my favorites. #quadskates #rollerskatingbeginner #rollerskatetutorial #rollerskatebeginner #rollerskatingtips | Michael Anderson

I’m not on smooth level yet 😅 Have fun!🤩 Leave a comment if this was helpful. Open for Tutorial requests. Fine Print: I’m a student trying to understand each movement each time I put on my skates and even out of skates. When there are opportunities to create tutorials, I try to break it down to lowest level and build up. Each level/part makes up the whole. No intention to mislead. Just imagine trying to dance with bricks on wheels! Insane right? 😂 • When I started roller skating in 2017, I began with simple “two-step” routines that didn’t require a lot of rolling around. This helps build strength in your leg muscle groups and overall confidence on wheels without too much risk! Another great thing about this is that you can do it at home, even if you have a carpet floor! • If this sounds like you and you’re near the Memphis area, sign up for my Tuesday classes at stepandskate.com/services!
