This was the highlight for me of our trip to DC. Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists and I spent much time looking at his work. This is part of a permanent collection at the National Gallery of Art. This was painted at St. Remy, the asylum. The paint on the canvas was so thick that he had to leave it at the asylum to dry after he left. It was later delivered to him. Allowed to photograph...even with flash...which was surprising; however, that did not have good results. Had to be so still…

Pink Roses by Richard Oversmith Oil ~ 16 x 12

Owned by the National Gallery of Art of Washington, D.C., this work was painted in 1890 by Vincent van Gogh, the Dutch post-impressionism painters. This masterpiece and the choice of flowers and the color used, as the similarly-dated ones with the same subject, reflects the optimism Van Gogh felt at that time about his future.
