Rubber sculpture

Lucy Glendinning’s figures carry absorbing, yet unsettling textures alien to the human body. The artist uses material like wax, duck feathers, timber, jesmonite, glass, and other materials for her strange, often fetal-positioned characters. Name: Reese Borlin, Senior, 2018 Title: The whistle, then the gun Medium: Wooden armature covered in screws and rubber bands In this project, I aimed to express both the physical and mental stress of competition, specifically cross country. By stretching rubber bands over a frame, both the physical tensing of muscles during the whistle blast and the inner emotional tension is captured, as the piece is always under this same stress.
