Annie Stafford - Learn to sew on Instagram: "❗️No overlocker, no problem❗️ Have you ever used your sewing machine to overlock your fabric? Well now you can 🙌🏼 In this sewing tutorial I show you how to overlock the edge of your fabric to get a “mock overlocked” look. The trick here is to sew as close as you can to the edge of the fabric, this allows you to pull off any loose threads to make it look overlocked. This sewing hack has come in super useful for me when working with fabric such as this cotton canvas, and is a great way to stop your fabric from fraying. 🦋However if you are going to work with knits and don’t have access to an overlocker, there are other alternatives such as a zig-zag stitch, or a stretch threads. 🦋 If you enjoyed this reel, make sure to like, save and fol How To Use An Overlocker, Overlock Stitch On Sewing Machine, Sewing Machine Hacks, Overlocker Projects, Zig Zag Stitch, Sewing Tips And Tricks, Overlock Machine, Sewing Tricks, Shirt Tutorial

We work from the front side of the seam.

🪡Step 1. Pull out the "needle" thread that is closer to the edge of the fabric.

🪡Step 2. Then pull out the second "needle" stitch.

🪡Step 3. Remove the loops.

*Note: If your overlock stitch is long, pre-cut the needle stitches in several places 10 inches (25 cm) apart.

Julia Hincks on Instagram: "Want to know how to create a rolled hem on your #overlocker or #serger ? It’s super easy!! ✂️✂️✂️ I’m using a Janome 9102D but this technique will work on any machine. Simply follow these steps: 1. Shorten the stitch length to 1.5 or use the ‘R’ setting 2. Increase the tension on the lower looper (this will pull the upper looper stitches over the edge of the fabric and round to the underside, rolling the fabric edge.) 3. Use a narrow stitch setting: Remove the left needle and the stitch finger. (Check your manual on how to do this) 4. Use a woolly nylon in the upper looper. This will give better coverage of the raw edge and a softer finish.(Regular thread will work too) Try it out!! ✂️✂️✂️ #overlockertips #sergertips #overlockerrolledhem #sergerrolledhem #ove Rolled Hem Serger, Overlocker Tension, Serger Stitches, Serger Tips, Overlock Machine, Overlock Stitch, Tension Setting, Over The Edge, Shortening
