Apr 8, 2025 - In Arabella’s drawings the paper is a white space devoid of clutter. This leaves the figures she draws a space to exist there, undisturbed and free to look at the horizon, lie in the sun or go for a walk, whilst at the same time seemingly floating in a timeless place. This focus on the figures, and exclusion of colour and background, draws us into what the subject is doing and even possibly how they are feeling or what they are thinking. A momentary scene is captured on the paper, a snapshot into a private reverie; the figures become not merely people but characters and the space on the paper allows the viewer to project their own imagination, emotions and memories onto the work. Arabella had her debut show for Northcote Gallery back in July 2013. We will be taking her to the Affordable Art Fair Battersea 2013
