Adding elastic to waistband

If your waist is quite a bit smaller than your hips, you may suffer from “gaposis” when you buy jeans to fit your hips. This leaves plenty of room in the waistband, creating a clear view of, ahem, you know, your unmentionables. Well, there is a fix for your jeans to help keep those unmentionables unmentionable.

When I first blogged about this adorable dress, I mentioned the waist ran wide and suggested a few easy DIY "fixes." Per your requests, here's a step-by-step tutorial for one of my favorite quick tricks to make a garment fit better: by adding a partial elasticized waist. This is a total shortcut method, but it takes 10 minutes, it's comfortable, and it's easy to undo if you gain some weight later!

Here is the tutorial based on a Kwik Sew pattern 3115. First start by measuring your pant waistband and subtract around 2-4" depending on your comfort level for the elastic.
