I think about it as something between collage and painting as you prepare skins to be added to your painting once they had time to dry, and you can place them, cut them, stretch them, overlap them a bit as you would when working with collage.

What are acrylic skins? Acrylic skins are essentially the dried paint that is left over from using acrylic paint. The plastic-like consistency of acrylic paint lends itself to making “skins” that can be peeled from plastic containers in sheets. I always found it cathartic to peel the dried acrylic paint from my plastic pallet.
